The discipline of chemistry in Zhejiang Sci-Tech University has a history of nearly a hundred years, the earliest can be traced back to the establishment of silk chemistry in 1927, and has been engaged in the teaching and research of inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry and polymer chemistry since 1965. The Department of Applied Chemistry was established in 1999, and the Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science was established in 2002. In February 2023, in order to further optimize the layout of disciplines, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering was established.
Teaching staff: The college has 85 teaching staff, 76 full-time teachers (including experimental technology), 46 in the department of Chemistry, 24 in the Department of chemical Engineering, and 7 in the experimental technology group. Discipline specialty: It has a doctoral degree in Materials Chemistry and physics, a master's degree in chemistry, and a master's degree in Materials and Chemical engineering. In 2008, polymer Chemistry and physics was selected as A key discipline in Zhejiang Province, and in 2016, chemistry was selected as a first-class discipline (Class A) in Zhejiang Province. In recent years, the academic reputation of chemistry has risen rapidly, and the latest ESI global ranking is in the top three thousandths.
The college has two undergraduate majors, applied chemistry and materials chemistry. The applied chemistry major has been selected as the first-class professional construction point of the national "Double Million Plan", and the material chemistry has been selected as the first-class professional construction point of the provincial "Double Million Plan".
Condition platform: The college has three provincial platforms, namely, the Key Laboratory of Surface Interface Science of Polymer Materials in Zhejiang Province, the International Science and Technology Cooperation Base of Fine Chemicals Green Synthesis Technology in Zhejiang Province, and the Provincial Chemistry Experiment Teaching Demonstration Center, and the research institutions of Polymer Materials Interface Science and Technology Institute and the Institute of Modern Organic Synthesis.

Talent training: The school actively explores the mechanism of students' innovative ability training, with 429 undergraduates and 501 postgraduates, a total of 930 (excluding international students). Graduates are favored by employers. In the past five years, the students have published 2 SCI papers, won more than 10 outstanding master's theses of Zhejiang Province, 8 innovation awards of Zhejiang Chemical Society, 1 person won Wang Shanyuan Excellent doctoral dissertation Award, and the excellent rate of postgraduate dissertation random inspection is 100%.
