School of International Education, International Institute of Fashion Technology is one of the most essential management and teaching institutions for international exchange and cooperation and internationalization of education. Its main functions include management, teaching, scientific research and service. The tasks it undertakes are as follows: coordination of the recruitment and daily management of international students and teaching, management and scientific research of Sino-foreign joint programs.

ZSTU has been developing the education of international students, and began to recruit international students formally in 2003. In January 2010, ZSTU was officially approved to be one of the 161 qualified institutions that can recruit international students with Chinese government scholarship. A relatively perfect scholarship system has been formed at present, and the number of international degree students is booming steadily.

The school has launched Sino-foreign joint programs actively. In 2000, ZSTU began to cooperate with the Fashion Institute of Technology, State University of New York (FIT) which known as ‘Harvard in the Fashion Industry’. Now ZSTU has three undergraduate Sino-foreign joint programs approved by the Ministry of Education: ‘Fashion Design and Engineering’, ‘Fashion and Accessory Design’ and ‘Visual Communication Design’, which were appraised as the demonstration programs of Sino-foreign cooperation in 2017. The joint programs have been widely praised in the domestic apparel industry and education area. The employment rate of graduates is more than 98%, and the rate of entrepreneurship and of going abroad for further study ranks at the first place in ZSTU for many years. In 2018, the school signed a cooperation agreement with North Carolina State University to carry out the Sino-foreign joint program of ‘fashion design and Engineering’ of graduate education, which began enrollment in 2021.
